Sebastien Lai, son of imprisoned Hong Kong publisher, pro-democracy advocate and devout Catholic Jimmy Lai, will speak on campus on August 28.
Sebastien has led an international campaign to secure his father Jimmy’s release since authorities arrested him in 2020 and shut down his pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily in 2021. Sebastien comes to UD following recent addresses to the Congressional-Executive Commission on China in May and the United Nations Human Rights Council in June.
Joined by Ellen Bork, George W. Bush Institute fellow and daughter of the late jurist Robert Bork, and Jonathan Price, a member of Jimmy's international legal team, Sebastien will speak in the Multipurpose Room of SB Hall on August 28 at 6 p.m.
