The University of Dallas Drama Department announces its 2013 Spring Mainstage - Big Love by Chuck Mee, a modern adaptation of Aeschylus’s The Suppliant Women. Filled with pop culture references, Dusty Springfield songs, zany post-modern dance, cake fights and even murder, Big Love follows the fate of 50 brides as they seek refuge in an Italian villa from their impending arranged marriages to their cousins. Highly theatrical and aggressively contemporary, this exuberant adaptation is both “a somber meditation on the ancient themes of justice and revenge, and a wild celebration of the enduring power of love”.
Big Love premiered at the Humana Festival of New American Plays in 2000 and has been performed across the country, including a run Off-Broadway where it won an Obie award in 2002.
Big Love will run from April 4th to April 14th at the Margaret Jonsson Theater. For more information contact the University of Dallas Drama Department at 972-721-5061 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
