Nalin Ranasinghe, Professor of Philosophy at Assumption College, has just published "Socrates and the Gods: How to Read Plato’s Euthyphro, Apology, and Crito" at St. Augustine’s Press and will speak here on the main topic of his book. The earlier volumes of his “Socrates trilogy” are "The Soul of Socrates" (Cornell U. Press) and "Socrates in the Underworld" (St. Augustine’s Press). He has also edited "Logos and Eros: Essays in Honor of Stanley Rosen." Rosen directed his dissertation in philosophy at Pennsylvania State University. Before the doctorate, he took his M.A. at the University of Dallas.
This lecture is sponsored by the Louise Cowan Chair in Literature, Braniff Graduate School, the Braniff Graduate Student Association, and the Department of Philosophy.
